Health Care Aide and Personal Support Worker is a one-year, full-time certificate delivered at RRC Polytech's South Winnipeg Campus. The first term covers foundational health science and communication courses, including anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, human development, and communication in health care settings. The second term focuses on applied patient care through Supporting Complex Care Needs coursework alongside two preceptor-led work practicum placements, a long-term care practicum and an acute care practicum, together providing hands-on experience across care settings. The curriculum is designed to align with current health care practice standards and prepares graduates to support patient-centred, daily care needs as part of an interdisciplinary care team. Graduates are equipped for entry-level Health Care Aide and Personal Support Worker roles in hospitals, long-term care facilities, and community care settings.
