The Refrigeration Mechanical Trades certificate at Red River College Polytechnic gives students a Canadian-context foundation in the knowledge and skills required to install and repair heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems in residential and commercial buildings. Coursework was developed in consultation with industry and covers material handling, soldering, layout, and estimating, with an emphasis on the safe and efficient use of tools and materials in accordance with building codes and regulations. The program includes a two-week Work Integrated Learning placement, giving students hands-on, on-the-job experience alongside industry professionals, and it is accredited by Apprenticeship Manitoba. Graduates are prepared for careers in refrigeration, sheet metal, or power engineering trades. The program leads to a certificate credential and is delivered full-time at the Notre Dame Campus in Winnipeg.
