Overview
Structural Engineering Technology is a 32-month diploma that prepares structural engineering technologists to support engineers and architects. Students begin with a general first year in Civil Engineering Technology, starting in September and running eight months, before progressing into two further six-month terms specific to the Structural Engineering Technology option, each beginning in late October. Mandatory six-month co-op work terms follow both the first and second years of study. Coursework covers structural and geotechnical analysis, and the design of shallow and deep foundations and structural elements using reinforced concrete, steel, and timber, along with project management, technical detailing, and computer-aided drafting. The program concludes with a capstone project applying these skills to a real-world engineering problem. Delivery is full-time at the Notre Dame Campus in Winnipeg. Admission to the Structural Engineering Technology option requires successful completion of first-year Civil Engineering Technology coursework.
