Program details
Overview
Music and Worship is a Bachelor of Arts degree program at Redeemer University, offered as a major and a minor. The program combines faith formation with development of the musical dimensions of worship through experiential, practical learning and the study of musical literature across major eras, genres, and cultural sources, with particular attention to worship music from past to present. Students design worship services while considering the roles of music, liturgy, teaching, scripture, and prayer. Learning takes place through classroom instruction, ensemble participation and leading on-campus chapel services, and a 120-hour internship in a music ministry setting. Coursework includes Foundations of Worship, Worship in the Christian Church, and Worship Music Leadership, and the program concludes with a Senior Recital or Lecture Recital as its capstone. All prospective music majors and minors must complete a music audition as part of the application process.
