Overview
This apprenticeship trains students to manage and dispense parts inventories, handle stock, and identify and catalogue parts and assemblies across various industries. Two specializations are available: Parts Technician, focused on sales, ordering and inventory management, and Materials Technician, focused on order preparation, shipping and inventory processes. The program runs three 12-month periods, each combining apprenticeship education with a minimum of 1,500 hours of on-the-job training. Training is delivered in a blended format at SAIT's Main Campus and online using the Weekly Apprenticeship Training System, where students spend one day each week in an online classroom for each training period. Graduates receive journeyperson designation through Alberta's Apprenticeship and Industry Training. This program does not accept international applicants.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Applicants must be a resident of or primarily work in the province of Alberta, be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or hold a valid CUAET visa, and complete the basic education requirements for the program.
