Cert in Automotive Painter

This applied certificate program prepares students for work in auto body shops, auto dealerships, and the vehicle manufacturing sector. Coursework covers dismantling and assembling vehicles, hammering out small dents, and preparing, priming and refinishing vehicle panels, building the practical skills needed for automotive painting, prepping, detailing, and defect troubleshooting. Students complete a one-week placement in an auto body shop to apply the skills learned in a real workplace setting. The program runs 16 weeks full-time, a shorter applied credential than Saskatchewan Polytechnic's full Auto Body Technician certificate, with delivery subject to needs assessment each intake. Graduates typically work at auto body repair shops, private garages, paint shops, commercial fleets and paint manufacturers, and may be eligible for credit toward apprenticeship training with the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission; the credential can also lead toward the Bachelor of Applied Management degree for journeypersons.
