Overview
This one-year certificate program teaches core welding processes, including gas metal arc, gas tungsten arc, and shielded metal arc welding, along with oxy-acetylene fusion welding, cutting processes, blueprint reading, quality assurance, and general shop safety and practice. Roughly three-quarters of instructional time takes place in Saskatchewan Polytechnic's shops, with hands-on practice on fabrication equipment forming the core of the training. The program runs over 34 weeks and is offered at the Moose Jaw, Prince Albert, Regina, and Saskatoon campuses. Graduates may be eligible for credit toward apprenticeship training in the trade.
