Overview
This three-year diploma, offered full-time, teaches drafting fundamentals and project management alongside structural, mechanical and municipal engineering design and manufacturing. It places particular emphasis on Building Information Modeling (BIM) and the integration of digital transformation technology, culminating in a major capstone project that uses BIM to integrate civil, mechanical piping and structural design. The program spans 80 weeks across five academic semesters plus three mandatory four-month paid Co-operative Education work terms, delivered full-time on campus with class hours from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, and a September intake. Graduates are prepared for technologist roles supporting engineering design, drafting and BIM coordination on civil, structural, mechanical and municipal projects, working alongside engineers and other design professionals in consulting, construction and government settings.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Admission requires Grade 12 with Pre-Calculus 30, plus Saskatchewan Polytechnic's institution-wide English Language Requirement (IELTS Academic overall 6.5 with 5.0 per band, TOEFL iBT 81 overall with 19 per skill, PTE Academic 63 overall with 50 per component, Duolingo English Test 110, or CAEL 60 overall with 50 per component). Applicants without the standard credential can qualify through ACCUPLACER, with minimum scores of 250 Arithmetic, 240 Advanced Algebra and Functions, 256 Quantitative Reasoning, 250 Reading and 245 Writing. Admission is First Qualified/First Admitted, with applications opening September 1 annually for the September intake.
