Program details
Overview
Management skills are combined with direct industry exposure aimed at moving graduates toward supervisory and management positions within resort operations. Field trips provide direct contact with industry supervisors and managers along with first-hand exposure to both indoor and outdoor sides of resort operations, and the diploma includes a co-operative work term placed at a working ski resort.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: In addition to Selkirk College's general admission requirements, this diploma requires any Grade 12-level English course at a minimum of 67%. International applicants must present an IELTS Academic score of 6.5 overall with no band below 6.0, or an equivalent score on another recognized English-proficiency test; applicants scoring IELTS 6.0 overall (minimum 5.5 per band) may still be admitted if they complete Grade 12 English or Communications at 67% during their first year. Candidates must submit a completed Application Questionnaire to the program coordinator and take part in an interview, which the page describes as informational rather than a condition of admission. Enrolment is capped at 30 students a year on a first-come, first-served basis; students should be able to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 kg, and pay roughly $500 in field-trip costs themselves. Entry is at the start of the Fall semester only, with no spring or summer intake.
