Overview

Biology at Trent University is a Bachelor of Science (General) program studying life at all levels of organization, from molecular and cellular processes to populations and communities. A single major in Biology gives students a broad introduction to the discipline along with the opportunity to specialize in areas of particular interest. Students may instead pursue joint-major degrees combining Biology with programs such as Environmental & Resource Science/Studies, Chemistry, Geography, Anthropology, or Psychology, and the Biology Department also offers a Biochemistry & Molecular Biology program jointly with the Chemistry Department. Students who have not taken a 4U calculus course are recommended to take MATH 1006H to satisfy the required 0.5-credit mathematics requirement. Any course involving live vertebrate animals requires completion of the Animal Care Course. Fees may apply for safety equipment, lab manuals, and some field trips, with alternative assignments offered where a field trip falls outside the scheduled timetable.
