Overview
Trent University's Computer Science program covers computer forensics, data mining, web-application development, graphics, artificial intelligence, and programming, delivered in small class sizes at the Peterborough and Durham GTA campuses. It includes a paid co-op stream in which students can gain up to 12 months of work experience with employers such as TD Bank, Shopify, Amazon, and Canada's Department of National Defence, developing and enhancing technical skills alongside professional and technical writing abilities. In third year, students can complete an internship providing 80 to 120 hours of on-the-job training, and in fourth year they take a capstone course that involves working directly with a real business client to design an information system or software product. Students can also get involved with the Computer Science Society, network with technology employers, and compete in national hackathon events. The program combines theoretical computing knowledge with applied, industry-facing experience and mentorship from faculty and industry partners.
