The Baccalaureat en histoire is a full-time bachelor of arts at Universite de Sherbrooke, admitting students each fall and winter term at the Sherbrooke campus. Over 90 credits, the programme builds foundational knowledge of the history of different civilizations and trains students to read contemporary issues through a historical lens. Core coursework covers historical methodology, historiography and epistemology, archival research, and the application of digital tools to historical work, alongside survey courses spanning antiquity, the Middle Ages, modern Europe, and the history of Canada and the United States. Students choose among a specialized pathway, a specialized pathway with an excellence profile for high-achieving students, or a pathway combining history with one of a range of minor certificates such as political studies, literature, philosophy or translation. Emphasis throughout is on developing research, analysis, synthesis and written and oral communication skills. The programme is open to international students in the regular admission stream and leads to a Bachelière ou bachelier es arts.
