This 90-credit PhD program in biochemistry (Philosophiae Doctor) is offered full-time, with admission in the fall, winter, and summer terms, at the Sherbrooke health campus or the joint Saguenay campus. Most of the 90 credits are required, comprising a general examination, a research seminar, a thesis, and supervised research activity; up to 15 elective credits may be drawn from complementary research activities, the biochemistry master's program, or other second- and third-cycle courses across the University. The program develops autonomy in fundamental research across structural biochemistry, molecular biology, and clinical biochemistry, along with advanced knowledge of functional genomics, proteomics, enzymology, gene-expression regulation, and protein and nucleic-acid structure. Graduates are expected to make original contributions to their research field suitable for peer-reviewed publication, and to be prepared for senior positions in academia or the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and chemical industries, or for further postdoctoral research.
Requirements
Minimum GPA:3.00 / 4.3
Admission Requirements: Applicants must hold a master's (second-cycle) degree in biochemistry or demonstrate preparation judged satisfactory, and must secure the agreement of a faculty member qualified to supervise their research before applying.
