Overview
This master's program (Maitre es arts) in communication comprises 45 credits, delivered full-time or part-time on the Sherbrooke main campus and the Longueuil campus, with fall and winter admission. It offers a research track culminating in a thesis, a coursework track in strategic communication that includes a practicum and an essay, and coursework tracks combined with a double diploma with the Universite catholique de Louvain or a triple diploma with the Universite catholique de Louvain and Sciences Po Aix, focused on international communication strategy or on international political communication and democratic risk. The program develops the knowledge and skills needed for personal and critical research, theoretical and methodological mastery for analyzing complex and contemporary communication issues, and a critical, ethical perspective on the field. The research track's required core (18 credits) covers tutorial courses, thesis supervision activities, strategic communication research, and research problematization, complemented by 27 elective credits including the thesis or seminar courses on public relations strategy, digital communication and media planning.

Admission Requirements: Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree in communication, or training judged equivalent; the triple-diploma track also accepts a bachelor's in political communication or political studies. A cumulative average of at least 3.0 on a 4.3-point scale is required, or equivalent academic standing, and applicants must be able to read texts in English. All admitted students must demonstrate a strong command of French, either through an exemption or by reaching CEFR level C2 (a score of at least 600 out of 699 across listening, reading, speaking and writing) on a test recognized by the university. Required documents include official transcripts and diplomas, two recommendation letters (waived for Universite de Sherbrooke students who completed at least one communication course or a first cycle at the School of Applied Politics), and a motivation letter.
