The Master's in Software Engineering (Maitrise en genie logiciel) is a 45-credit second-cycle programme at the Universite de Sherbrooke's Faculty of Science. It offers four streams leading to different degrees: two coursework streams for working professionals, administered by the Centre de formation en technologies de l'information, leading to the M.G.L. or M.T.I.; and a research stream and a general coursework stream under the Department of Computer Science, both leading to the M.Sc. The programme deepens knowledge of methods and tools for specifying, designing and implementing software systems, and of project-management and modelling techniques, while developing analytical rigour, professional ethics and communication skills for a fast-evolving field. The research stream centres on a supervised research project; the professional streams emphasize leading development and maintenance teams and integrating as a qualified team member. The programme is offered on the Sherbrooke and Longueuil campuses.
