This Master of Science in Nursing, Primary Care specialization, prepares registered nurses for advanced practice as specialized nurse practitioners delivering primary care to patients of all ages in community and residential settings. Completed alongside a Graduate Diploma (DESS), the 45-credit program combines advanced clinical coursework with supervised practicum experience delivered in a hybrid format, with in-person clinical placements. Admission requires a bachelor's degree in nursing, current Quebec nursing licensure, and substantial direct patient-care experience, including primary-care specific hours. Full-time completion takes two years, with a part-time option extending to three years, though the final year must be completed full-time due to clinical practicum requirements. Graduates develop the assessment, diagnostic and treatment competencies required to manage common health conditions and coordinate care across the lifespan, preparing them for certification and practice as specialized nurse practitioners within Quebec's primary healthcare system.
