Tetewá:neren – Connections is a one-year, two-semester Springboard (Tremplin DEC) pathway at Vanier College built specifically for First Nations, Métis, and Inuit students who do not yet meet regular admission requirements for a Diploma of Collegial Studies. Rather than teaching a single subject area, it combines remedial classes, general-education courses, and optional electives so students can complete outstanding secondary-level prerequisites, such as Secondary 5 language courses and Secondary 4 mathematics, while banking credits that carry into a future collegial program. Course content and teaching methods are shaped in consultation with Indigenous educators and draw on Indigenous pedagogical approaches and knowledge systems. Students learn in a small, close-knit cohort with mentorship and tutoring from culturally aware staff, and the pathway includes land-based learning through field trips and cultural and social activities. Staff also support participants through the process of applying into their eventual program of choice. It suits Indigenous learners who need a culturally grounded, academically supportive bridge before starting full-time collegial studies, with admission running in both the autumn and winter terms.

Admission Requirements: This Springboard program (Tetewá:neren – Connections) is limited to students who self-identify as First Nations, Métis or Inuit. Academic entry follows Vanier's Quebec secondary-school baseline: a Diploma of Secondary Studies (DES) or Diploma of Vocational Education (DVS), including Secondary 5 courses in the language of instruction and the second language plus Secondary 4 mathematics; out-of-province applicants must show equivalent credentials. The programme page states no minimum grade or average. On language proficiency, Vanier's own admissions pages confirm English-language testing is no longer required for admission (an English placement test follows acceptance), and French proficiency at CEFR level B2 (TCF, DELF, DALF or TEF) is required only of out-of-province or international applicants who did not complete Quebec secondary schooling.
