This programme trains specialists in the installation, diagnosis, upkeep and repair of electronic and mechatronic vehicle systems, combining an electronics engineering strand with a transport engineering strand. Subjects move from physics, mathematics and engineering graphics through automobile electrical equipment, electrotechnics, electronic systems design and engine management to automobile diagnostics and electric and hybrid vehicle technology. Practical placements cover electromechanical work, automobile electronics, and diagnostics on both trucks and passenger cars, alongside a graduation practice. Students may choose options such as gearbox, suspension or brake control systems, or elective language and humanities subjects. Teaching uses lectures, laboratory work and simulations, with assessment built from interim tests, practical tasks, written work and presentations. Graduates can work as electronics engineers in equipment maintenance and repair, or as transport engineers in automobile maintenance and repair, and may continue into further engineering study.
