Overview
Subjects include social welfare policy and protection, social work theory and methods, integrating people with disabilities, working with families and children, social pedagogy and andragogy, social gerontology, social counselling and crisis management, social innovation, employment theory and therapy, and social work case management, supported by social work informatics and a choice of professional foreign language. Practice placements cover cognitive observation in social service institutions, organising the social work process, and a graduation practice built around service research. Learning outcomes include recognising and evaluating what a person, family, group, or community needs, their strengths, and their possibilities, and building a trust-based relationship that represents the client's rights and motivates self-help, developing and implementing assistance plans for individual, institutional, regional, or national programmes, and carrying out practice-oriented research that is then applied to introduce innovations in social work. Students also learn to analyse how social policy affects human rights and social exclusion and to communicate professionally with clients, colleagues, politicians, and the media in both the state and a foreign language.
