The programme prepares economic specialists to apply theoretical knowledge in practice, think analytically, creatively and critically, and analyse the changing economic environment at local and international levels, drawing on a mix of traditional and newer quantitative and qualitative analytical methods. Compulsory subjects include microeconomics and macroeconomics in two stages, fundamentals of finance, programming for economists, financial accounting and reporting, applied econometrics, public finance, industrial organization, economic forecasting and international economics, supported by two internships and two term papers leading to a bachelor thesis. Students then choose one of three specialisations: business economics, covering management accounting, strategic management, investment and risk, and financial modelling; public sector economics, covering demography, public administration and public-sector accounting; or bioeconomics, covering the circular economy, bio-business planning and environmental engineering. Graduates are described as suited to work in government and non-government organisations, business enterprises and banks, with the option to continue to master's study in areas such as international economics or finance.
