BA/BS in Political Studies

This programme trains political-science specialists able to (re)explain and critically assess how political, economic, and social conditions change and differ across the world's countries and regions, carry out independent research, and run practical projects, choosing from three specialisations: World Politics and Economics, International Politics and Development Studies, or Political Science and Leadership. Learning outcomes include critically evaluating key theories and the latest research in political science, applying that knowledge to real policy problems, selecting and applying qualitative or quantitative research methods and data-collection tools, and analysing the changing content and actors of contemporary politics. Students also learn to plan and carry out professional or analytical activities in civil service, public, or private organisations, present research clearly to varied audiences, work responsibly in teams under professional ethics, and adapt to rapid change in knowledge and technology while respecting intellectual-property rights. Teaching combines traditional and interactive lectures with input from practising politicians, diplomats, and civil servants, and assessment uses a cumulative marking system weighting colloquia, coursework, and a final examination.
