Overview
This Attestation d'etudes collegiales (AEC) prepares funeral-industry professionals for administrative and operational management roles within funeral service businesses, working alongside or in support of existing teams. Coursework covers business administration and leadership, human-resources management including recruitment, selection, and staff integration, and the full accounting cycle: sales, purchasing, and payroll. Students also develop marketing skills such as business promotion, plus customer-service competencies including needs assessment and satisfaction follow-up, along with administrative coordination through priority management, file tracking, and digital tools. The programme runs 9 months over 2 sessions (285 hours) and is delivered entirely online, two to three evenings per week plus one weekend per month. It is intended for applicants who already hold related training or experience in the funeral sector, including graduates of the Techniques de thanatologie DEC or the Conseil funeraire AEC.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Applicants must hold a DEC in Techniques de thanatologie, an AEC in Conseil funeraire, or three years of experience in the funeral sector. They must also hold a Quebec Diploma of Secondary Studies (or recognized equivalent) plus relevant training or experience, and meet one further condition: an interruption of full-time studies (or full-time post-secondary study) for at least two consecutive sessions or a school year, an agreement between the college and an employer or a government programme, or a Diplome d'etudes professionnelles (DEP).
