Diploma in Laboratory Technology

This 3-year DEC (210.A0) specializes in analytical chemistry, training students to analyze and interpret the chemical composition of products and to perform quality control using laboratory instrumentation. Coursework spans chemistry, physics, mathematics, and biology, combined with hands-on laboratory work involving chemical handling and instrumental analysis under environmental safety standards. The programme includes two paid work placements of 8 to 12 weeks in a work-study format. Cégep de Jonquière is the only institution offering Techniques de laboratoire in the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region, and its chemistry department is accredited by the Chemical Institute of Canada. Graduates are prepared for roles such as analytical chemistry technician, quality-control technician, research-laboratory technician, environmental technician, or inspection technician.
