Program details

Overview

This six-session (three-year) double DEC pairs the pre-university Sciences de la nature curriculum with the Danse program. Science coursework follows the standard progression: differential and integral calculus, general through organic chemistry, mechanics, electricity and magnetism, cellular biology, human anatomy and physiology, microbiology and astrophysics. The dance coursework moves through classical ballet and modern dance technique classes, movement analysis, acrobatics, improvisation, choreographic composition and workshop, and collective creation, building toward a final synthesis of acquired skills. The two disciplines are taken in parallel across the program's six sessions and finish with an integration project. The program suits students who want to maintain rigorous technical dance training and performance practice while completing the science prerequisites needed for university study in pure, applied or health sciences, rather than committing to only one of the two separate pre-university DECs.

Requirements

Minimum GPA: 80.00 / %
Admission Requirements: This combined programme's own page carries no admission section (it lists only the shared course grid); requirements are set on the Cégep's Doubles DEC overview and on each component programme's own page, both cited here. Doubles DEC admission requires a general average of at least 80% in 4th- and 5th-secondary, plus meeting the admission requirements of both chosen fields. On the Sciences de la nature side that means TS or SN Mathematics from 5th secondary (or Mathematics 536), Chemistry from 5th secondary (or Chemistry 534) and Physics from 5th secondary (or Physics 534); the Doubles DEC page adds that, for this combination specifically, admission also requires passing the Danse audition. The combined programme is admitted once a year, in the Fall, and runs three years to two separate DECs.
