Overview
This Double DEC combines the Sciences de la nature program, covering chemistry, biology, physics, and mathematics, with the Individu, culture et société profile of Sciences humaines, letting students complete both a science-focused and a social-science-focused course of study over three years and graduate with two diplomas. The Sciences humaines side draws on psychology, sociology, geography, history, political science, and economics, with three dedicated psychology courses and field-based coursework in sociology and history that takes students outside the classroom. The Sciences de la nature side gives access to modern laboratories, a year-end science symposium built around each student's own capstone project, and peer-tutoring support through the science help centre and Primath. Sciences humaines students additionally have access to a shared social-science pavilion, a student lounge, and their own peer-tutoring help centre. As with the college's other Double DEC programs, students in this combined path receive extra pedagogical support given the heavier combined workload. It suits students who want to combine strong quantitative science training with a broad social-science education.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: This double-DEC pairs Sciences de la nature with Sciences humaines (profil individu, culture et société). The college's double-DEC admissions page requires, for Sciences de la nature, Chimie 584 or 534, Mathématiques TS 5e or SN 5e (536), and Physique 584; for Sciences humaines, CST 4e secondaire or Mathématiques 416. Applicants qualify with a Diplôme d'études secondaires (DES) from the youth or adult sector, or a Diplôme d'études professionnelles (DEP) plus passes in fifth-secondary language of instruction, fifth-secondary second language and fourth-secondary mathematics, or training the Cégep judges equivalent. No distinct English- or French-language test score is set; language ability is covered by those fifth-secondary language courses. Candidates must also meet the Ministry's program-specific admission conditions, the Cégep's own admission policy and Règlement no. 12 on academic success.
