Overview
This Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science, offered through Concordia's Faculty of Arts and Science, examines the science behind human exercise, health and physical activity. Students learn to interpret, apply and conduct health science research, and to assess, evaluate and design programs that maintain and improve health, fitness and athletic performance, combining lectures with hands-on laboratory work in clinical skills related to rehabilitation and health maintenance. Students choose from a Major in Exercise Science (45 credits), Honours in Exercise Science (60 credits), Honours in Kinesiology and Clinical Exercise Physiology (78 credits), or Honours in Athletic Therapy (102 credits). Full-time study takes a minimum of three to four years (90-120 credits), with classes held on the Loyola campus and admission in the Fall or Winter term. The program suits students aiming for careers in health science research, rehabilitation, fitness programming or clinical exercise physiology.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Direct entry from Quebec CEGEP requires a DEC with an overall average of 27 and 24 in math and science, covering Calculus 1, Calculus 2, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Ontario and other Canadian high-school applicants need a B- overall average and B- in math and sciences, with courses in Calculus, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Concordia's institution-wide English proficiency minimum applies unless exempt: IELTS Academic 6.0 with no band below 5.5, TOEFL iBT 70, or Duolingo 105. Fall applications are due March 1 (February 1 for U.S./international) and Winter applications November 1 (August 1 for U.S./international).
