Overview
This block-release apprenticeship (program code ELA6) prepares apprentices for a career in the electrician (construction and maintenance) trade, leading to an Ontario College Certificate. Coursework covers electrical theory and specialized skills including reading and interpreting drawings, installing conduit, and connecting wire, building toward competence in laying out, connecting, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems. Classroom training is organized into three progressive levels, delivered full-time on campus in alternating blocks with paid on-the-job training from a sponsoring employer. As an apprenticeship, the program is arranged through Skilled Trades Ontario rather than the standard college application process, and candidates must already be employed with a sponsor before registering. The program is offered at Fanshawe College's London, Ontario campus.
