Fanshawe College's Truck and Coach Technician (Day Release) programme is a day release apprenticeship for the Truck and Coach Technician (310T) trade, leading to an Ontario College Certificate. Apprentices learn to troubleshoot and repair fleet vehicles, combining in-class learning with paid, on-the-job training under a sponsoring employer. In the day release format, apprentices attend Fanshawe one day a week for in-school instruction while continuing to work in the trade the rest of the week, rather than attending full-time academic semesters. In-school training covers the trade theory and applied skills required to progress through the apprenticeship and is scheduled around the employer-sponsored, on-the-job portion of the training, which makes up the majority of the programme. Admission, sponsorship and progression through the apprenticeship are administered through Skilled Trades Ontario's registration system rather than Fanshawe's standard academic application process, and applicants cannot apply to the programme directly through ontariocolleges.ca.
