The Graduate Diploma in Management – Business Intelligence (D.E.S.S. en gestion – intelligence d'affaires) is a 30-credit, second-cycle program at HEC Montréal focused on data analysis skills, including statistics, machine learning, and database modelling, design and management, applied to marketing and e-commerce. Students learn data warehousing and data mining techniques and work with commonly used software such as R, SAS and Python, developing the ability to translate analysis into strategic recommendations. Instruction is delivered full-time, during the day, in person at the Côte-des-Neiges campus, and draws on the Laboratoire de calcul et d'exploitation des données, which provides access to economic, financial and marketing databases and specialized analytical software. Graduates commonly work as business analysts, business intelligence analysts, marketing coordinators or analytics solutions specialists in fields such as finance, banking, insurance, IT and marketing. The diploma is eligible for the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) and can lead, under certain conditions, to the Master's in Management (M. Sc.) – Business Intelligence.
