Program details
Overview
Lakehead University's Water Resource Science program, offered at the Thunder Bay campus, is the only undergraduate program of its kind in Canada. The curriculum examines the ecology, physical processes, and chemistry of wetland, lake, river, and groundwater systems, the effects of human activity on these systems, and approaches to environmental rehabilitation, alongside water-related public policy. The interdisciplinary program draws on biology, chemistry, geography, and policy studies, with an emphasis on field-based learning, including classes held along the river running through the Thunder Bay campus. It leads to an Honours Bachelor of Science in Water Resource Science over four years, with a specialization option in Applied Environmental Resource Management, preparing graduates for careers in environmental monitoring, resource management, and conservation.
