Program details
Overview
Lakehead University's Bachelor of Science in Natural Science, offered through the Department of Biology, is a three-year degree emphasizing field biology and experiential learning. It does not require Chemistry or Mathematics prerequisites and contains less theory-based coursework than Lakehead's traditional Biology programs, combining laboratory work, research internships, and field trips in the surrounding Boreal Forest. Students take electives across multiple faculties, building biological literacy alongside critical thinking and reflective learning skills. The program is delivered on-campus at the Thunder Bay campus, with intakes each September and January.
