The Master of Arts in Music: Music Education is a thesis-based program offered by the Schulich School of Music for studio- and classroom-based teachers and music educators. Seminars introduce research methodologies and critical thinking skills applied to current issues in music education, and students carry out original research culminating in a thesis. The program draws on community outreach and leadership initiatives, including the Global Leadership program, El Sistema, and Chamber Music Without Borders, and offers access to technology for studying performance physiology and modelling teaching practice. Multi-disciplinary seminars foster dialogue between educators and performers. Students have access to performance spaces, research and production laboratories, and the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Music Media and Technology (CIRMMT). Admission requires an eligible bachelor's degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0 and English-language proficiency. The program admits students for the Fall intake only.
