The Faculty Program in Music at McGill's Schulich School of Music is designed for students seeking a personalized course of study not covered by the school's established major programs, including combining music with other disciplines. After completing required courses in music theory, history, performance, musicianship, and professional training, students work with a staff adviser to design an individualized program, drawing on courses from other faculties as desired. Sample coursework includes Western Musical Traditions, BMus Practical Lessons, Music as a Profession, and Theory and Analysis. Complementary minors are offered in music education, conducting, and the musical applications of technology and science. Related majors include the Faculty Program in Music: Jazz and various Music Performance streams. Graduates pursue careers as performers, composers, conductors, music theorists, and music journalists, supported by the program's combination of theoretical, practical, and professional training. Applicants apply directly to the Schulich School of Music.
