Trades - Apprenticeship in Sheet Metal Worker

Admission Requirements: Admission to the Sheet Metal Worker apprenticeship is not processed through NBCC's standard academic application. NBCC's own apprenticeship overview states that admission to Apprenticeship programs is the responsibility of the Government of New Brunswick's Apprenticeship and Occupational Certification Branch, with NBCC delivering only the technical, in-school portion of training. The programme's own page is no longer maintained and now directs applicants to the Branch's current designated-occupations listing, which records trade status and required training hours but publishes no academic entry criteria for this occupation. In practice, entrants register through Direct Entry by obtaining employment with an employer willing to sign an apprenticeship agreement, through Pre-Apprenticeship while still in high school, or by completing an NBCC Pre-Employment program and passing the Level 1 exam before registering as an apprentice. No minimum grade, course or standardized English-language test score is published for entry into the trade itself; applicants taking the NBCC-delivered technical-training route are subject to NBCC's general English-language proficiency requirement for international and permanent-resident applicants.
