This 16-week, full-time applied certificate prepares students to install, repair, overhaul, and maintain stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment. Instruction is split evenly between shop and classroom time and covers trade mathematics, drafting and blueprint reading, welding and cutting, and the use of trade tools. The program is delivered mainly off campus through continuing education at Saskatchewan Polytechnic's regional colleges, and may run at any Saskatchewan Polytechnic campus subject to a needs assessment, so scheduling and location vary by intake. Admission requires Grade 12 with Foundations of Mathematics 20, Workplace and Apprenticeship Mathematics 20, or Pre-Calculus 20, plus the institution's English Language Requirement. Applicants without the standard math credential may qualify through the ACCUPLACER placement test. The certificate gives students a foundation in industrial mechanics that can lead toward further trades training.
