Water Sciences is a Bachelor of Science (Honours) program delivered jointly by Trent University's School of the Environment and the Departments of Biology and Chemistry. The program responds to the essential ecosystem services that freshwater systems provide, including clean water, food, energy, recreation, climate regulation, and waste assimilation, and to the growing pressure on those services from population and economic growth. Coursework draws on Biology, Chemistry, Environmental & Resource Science/Studies, and Geography to give students a technical and theoretical foundation in the science of water and aquatic environments, preparing graduates to respond to contemporary water challenges in Canada and internationally. Some courses in the program carry a small additional fee for field trips. Students may also apply to Trent's Accelerated Master's program in Environmental & Life Sciences to complete a research-based MSc within a shortened timeframe after finishing their undergraduate studies.
