This thesis-based master's program (Maitre es sciences) in biochemistry comprises 45 credits, delivered full-time on the Sante Sherbrooke campus or the joint Saguenay campus, with fall, winter and summer admission. It includes an integrated pathway from the bachelor's programs in pharmacology and in health biochemistry. Students acquire the methodology and experimental rigour needed for research across biochemistry specializations, including structural biochemistry, molecular biology and clinical biochemistry, and deepen their knowledge of functional genetics, proteomics, enzymology, gene expression regulation, and protein and nucleic acid structure. The program prepares graduates for leadership roles in universities, the biotechnology, pharmaceutical or chemical industries, or teaching, through an original research project, critical engagement with the scientific literature, and oral and written communication of results. The required core (33 credits) covers a research seminar, the thesis (memoire) and research activities; up to 12 elective credits are chosen from advanced topics such as protein biochemistry, chromatin and genes, RNA biochemistry, genomics, and data analysis with Python or R.
