This master's program (Maitre en education) in special education and social adaptation is delivered entirely online, over 45 credits, with full-time or part-time enrolment and fall, winter and summer admission. It does not lead to a teaching certificate or authorization to teach. The program offers two tracks: special education and social adaptation, for candidates with a teaching background, and remedial education (orthopedagogy), for candidates with a background in special education, focused on remediation in mathematics and French literacy. Students learn to systematically analyze their professional practice, deepen their conceptual and methodological knowledge, and strengthen their professional skills for working with students facing learning or adaptation difficulties. The core curriculum (12 credits) covers reading scientific literature and designing and producing a capstone project, complemented by 6 credits of professional development (a professional essay or article, or a practicum-based development report) and 27 elective credits chosen from topics such as learning difficulties, intellectual disability, reading and writing difficulties, language disorders, cognitive development, classroom differentiation and use of technology in teaching.
