Overview

The DESS en gestion at Université du Québec à Montréal is a general management diploma for graduates from non-management backgrounds who need core administrative skills, covering functions such as finance, human resources, marketing, and organizational behaviour. The 24-credit programme is offered on a full-time or part-time basis, with courses held in the evening and on weekends. Full-time study is available only at the fall term, while winter admission is offered part-time only. The curriculum assumes basic knowledge of mathematics and a functional ability to read English, and combines core management courses with case-based and applied learning suited to professionals moving into supervisory or first-line management roles. The admissions committee reviews borderline averages individually, and a limited number of candidates without a bachelor's degree may be admitted based on extensive management experience.

Minimum GPA: 3.20 / 4.3

Admission Requirements: Admission requires a bachelor's degree, or the equivalent, completed with a cumulative average of at least 3.2 on a 4.3 scale; candidates with an average between 2.7 and 3.1 are reviewed case by case by the admissions committee. Exceptional admission may be granted, for a limited share of the cohort, to candidates without a bachelor's degree who have at least five years of relevant management experience. Candidates should have basic knowledge of mathematics and a functional ability to read English; those whose prior studies were outside Quebec may need to demonstrate French proficiency, for example a score above 780/990 on the Test de français international.
