Overview

Objective(s) of a study programme: To train highly qualified professionals capable of effectively managing hospitality service enterprises, ensuring high quality customer service and contributing to the development of the hospitality sector at both national and international level.To train professionals capable of organising and managing tourism and hospitality services, analysing market needs and providing innovative solutions in line with the principles of sustainable development. Learning outcomes: Knowledge and application: Understands and applies the basic principles, operating models, legislation and regulatory frameworks of the tourism and hospitality industry, both nationally and internationally. Understands how to apply business and public management and sustainable development concepts to understand and analyse the tourism and hospitality business environment. Understands the role of digital technologies (CRM, PMS), artificial intelligence, data analytics and innovation in tourism and hospitality management, and is able to apply them in practice to improve the customer experience and optimise the organisation's performance. Research skills: Able to collect, analyse and interpret data related to the tourism and hospitality sector, using qualitative and quantitative research methods, and apply them to assess tourism infrastructure and the demand for tourism services Researches and solves real-world problems in the tourism industry, applying innovative solutions based on data and international best practices.Is able to assess tourist and customer behaviour and expectations and develop tailored service strategies, taking into account consumer segments and cultural differences. Specific competences: Able to develop new tourism products taking into account different markets, regional specificities, sustainable tourism principles and innovation.Able to analyse tourism and hospitality markets, assess their development trends and apply sustainable development principles in different contexts. The ability to initiate and manage tourism and hospitality start-ups (projects), to find sources of funding and to adapt business development strategies.To analyse, process and evaluate tourism business processes and apply innovation in working practice. Social skills: Able to communicate clearly and argumentatively with clients and partners from different cultures using oral, written and digital communication tools.Able to work in a multicultural team, resolve conflict situations and apply leadership principles in the tourism and hospitality sector. Able to discuss relevant professional issues in accordance with professional ethics, base professional activities on the principles of social justice and sustainable development, and continuously improve his/her professional skills as a tourism professional. Personal skills: Able to think creatively and critically, and to adapt to changing market conditions by continuously developing their professional skills.They have practical experience of working in real tourism and hospitality organisations, and are able to perform tasks independently and plan and organise activities.Understands the principles of professional ethics, social responsibility and sustainable development and is able to apply them in business decision-making. The ability to organise work and learning effectively, to take responsibility for professional development and to apply the principles of continuous learning. Activities of teaching and learning: The study period is 3 years (6 semesters). The subjects are evenly distributed in each semester (6-7 subjects in each semester). Examinations are spread evenly throughout the semesters. The final thesis is submitted and defended in semester VI. The programme includes 3 internships and 3 free electives. The Hospitality Management study programme provides for the use of a variety of forms of classes (lectures, tutorials, seminars, individual work with the student by the lecturer, independent work by the student) and methods (discussions, group work, project work, case studies, tests, etc.) to enable students to achieve the study results. Methods of assessment of learning achievements: Students' achievements are evaluated on a ten-point system in accordance with the approved Procedures for the Evaluation of Student Achievements. A summative (cumulative) assessment system shall be used for student reports. The assessment of learning outcomes shall be based on SP + CP + EP, where SP = independent work grade (20% of the final grade); CP = average of the grades of the control assignments (20% of the final grade); EP - examination grade (60% of the final grade). Framework: Study subjects (modules), practical training: Principles of Law, Business Leadership, Hospitality Business Ethics and Etiquette, Effective Communication, Environment and Human Safety, Principles of Economics, Accounting and Finance, Tourism Services and Infrastructure, Tourism Information and Reservation Systems, Catering Services, Leisure Services Specialisations: Optional courses: 9 credits from the list of free electives of the College or other higher education institution are allocated for free electives in the Hospitality Management study programme Distinctive features of a study programme: Interdisciplinarity and versatility: hospitality management studies encompass not only aspects of tourism and recreation, but also knowledge of business, management, economics, sociology, psychology, geography, history and other sciences in order to fully understand and manage the hospitality industry. Practical orientation: The course focuses on practical activities, including internships in hospitality companies, participation in real events and projects to ensure that students are prepared for real work situations. Analytical and evaluative skills: Students are trained to collect, organise and analyse data, evaluate the performance of tourism entities, conduct applied business management research, and apply management science theories and research methods.Social and personal skills: The programme develops students' abilities to communicate and cooperate with professionals and consumers in related fields in local and international environments, to work in a team, to take responsibility for the quality of their own performance or that of their subordinates, and to observe the principles of professional ethics and civic citizenship. Access to professional activity or further study: Access to professional activity: Graduates can work in a wide range of hospitality sector businesses, such as hotels, restaurants, travel agencies, event management companies, tourist information centres and other tourism and hospitality-related organisations. They may hold managerial or administrative positions responsible for quality assurance, customer service, event organisation and similar functions. Access to further study: Graduates of the Hospitality Management programme can continue their studies at Master's level, choosing tourism, hotel management, event management or other related fields of study both in Lithuania and abroad
