This programme builds broad knowledge of English philology, covering fluent oral and written English, text structure across journalistic, scholarly and literary genres, and the historical and cultural traits of countries where English is spoken. Compulsory subjects include contemporary English, microphonetics, essay writing and text analysis, surveys of British and American literature, the history of the English language, translation, editing standards and teaching English as a foreign language, closing with a final degree project. From the third year, students pick electives such as theory of the novel, poetry, drama, morphology, lexicology, semantics or corpus linguistics, alongside general education courses in philosophy, the social sciences, natural sciences, economics and the arts. Assessment combines a mid-term exam, seminar work and a final exam on a ten-point scale. Graduates are positioned to continue into master's study in English philology, translation, computational linguistics, literary and cultural studies, education, journalism or political science.
