Overview
This programme builds solid linguistic knowledge of English and a second foreign language, chosen from Spanish, Norwegian, French, or Russian, with the aim of C1 fluency in English and B2 in the second language under the Common European Framework. Learning outcomes combine general competencies such as time management, autonomous study, analytical and critical thinking, and intercultural teamwork with subject-specific skills in linguistic knowledge, translation and interpreting, national-language proficiency, and understanding the culture and literature of both language communities. Coursework is organised into blocks covering general university subjects such as philosophy, logic, and European cultural history; linguistics, including phonetics, morphology, lexicology, syntax, semantics, psycholinguistics, corpus linguistics, and pragmatics; practical language study in both languages alongside Lithuanian; and the history and culture of English-speaking and the corresponding foreign-language-speaking regions. Teaching mixes classical lecture-based methods with interactive lessons, problem solving, and group project work, and assessment blends continuous evaluation during the semester with interim tests and a final cumulative examination.
