Program details

Overview

The Engineering Transfer Certificate at Langara follows a BCCAT-articulated design, matching the opening year of UBC's own engineering program and satisfying UBC Faculty of Applied Science requirements for transfer classification when completed within the standard two-semester year. The underlying Certificate in Arts and Science (Engineering) can also be counted toward either a Diploma in Arts and Science, or toward an Associate of Science Degree, as its first year.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Admission to the Engineering Transfer Certificate (Bridge to UBC) requires BC Grade 12 graduation (or equivalent) for domestic applicants, or 19 years of age or older as an alternative, plus a minimum 'B' in Chemistry 12 (or equivalent) or a minimum 'C+' in CHEM 1118; a minimum 'B' in Physics 12, a minimum 'C+' in PHYS 1118, or a qualifying result on the Physics Diagnostic Test; and either a minimum 'B' in Precalculus 12, a minimum 'C+' in both Precalculus 12 and Calculus 12, a minimum 'C+' in MATH 1170, or a score of at least 90 on the Mathematics Diagnostic Test. Diagnostic-test admission requires departmental approval. English proficiency must meet Langara's Category 1 standard; the program's own admissions page does not publish the specific test scores for this category. Admission into the certificate is competitive, and meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee acceptance.
