Overview
The Economics program at Laurentian University applies economic theory to real-world issues through core courses in macroeconomics, microeconomics, and statistics. The curriculum covers Canadian economic policy, employment, inflation, monetary policy, and international trade, building students' quantitative data analysis, strategic thinking, and decision-making skills. The Honours specialization requires 120 credits, typically completed over four years of full-time study on campus, while a general concentration of 90 credits can be completed in three years. Economics can also be combined with a Business Administration degree. Graduates earn a Bachelor's degree in Economics and are prepared for careers in finance, policy analysis, and government or private-sector economic roles, as well as for graduate study in economics or related fields.
