Overview

The Medical Radiologic Technology program is a 96-week Advanced Diploma delivered by Saskatchewan Polytechnic from its Saskatoon campus, combining lectures, web-assisted learning, and simulation labs with clinical practicums at approved sites across Saskatchewan. Students train to produce diagnostic images using X-ray, computed tomography, and breast imaging equipment, covering radiographic equipment operation, patient positioning, image critique, anatomy, examination techniques, patient care, and radiation safety. The program admits students in September through a competitive process that ranks applicants by academic average. Before clinical placements, students must provide current immunization records, a Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search, N95 mask fit testing, WHMIS 2015 GHS certification, and TLR or SMART certification. Graduates are prepared to work as radiological technologists in hospitals and diagnostic imaging centres, operating radiographic and CT equipment and supporting breast imaging procedures across Saskatchewan's healthcare system.
