Université du Québec à Rimouski offers BA/BS in Electromechanical Systems Engineering, a bachelor's degree in General Engineering programme in Rimouski, Canada. The programme runs for 4 years, delivered on campus. Tuition for international students is CAD 12,276 per semester (CAD 1,911 per semester for local students).
This Bachelor of Engineering in Electromechanical Systems combines mechanical and electrical engineering training, covering the analysis, design and integration of electromechanical elements and systems with attention to industrial applications and professional ethics. The 120-credit program runs over eight trimesters and is offered full-time or part-time, with day and evening classes, at the Rimouski campus, one of only two sites in Quebec offering this specific degree. Students choose between two structural profiles: a work-study track with three paid, credited internships of four to eight months during the summers of the first three years, or a general track with a single paid internship in year three and free summers earlier in the program. A shared first-year curriculum across UQAR's engineering programs allows students to switch specializations early with minimal disruption. Several courses are built around projects submitted by partner companies, giving students exposure to real engineering problems, and the program includes ongoing participation in robotics competitions and engineering forums. It is designed for holders of a pre-university CEGEP diploma or equivalent, international applicants, and candidates with prior professional experience in electrical or mechanical fields, and it leads toward eligibility for Quebec's professional engineering designation.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Quebec CEGEP applicants need a DEC intégré en sciences, lettres et arts, a DEC en sciences de la nature, or an equivalent diploma plus completed college-level courses in Biology 301, Chemistry 101 and 201, Mathematics 103, 105 and 203, and Physics 101, 201 and 301; applicants whose file doesn't establish equivalent math knowledge may be required to take remedial coursework. Applicants with 12 years of schooling completed outside Quebec must complete UQAR's preparatory year for science and applied-science bachelor's programs with a minimum average of 12/20 or equivalent, and applicants with two or more years of professional experience in electrical or mechanical engineering may be admitted conditionally on completing the same preparatory year. As with all UQAR programs, applicants must meet the French Language Mastery Policy, submitting an accepted French test (TEF 460, TCF 460 or Bright Language 3.5 across all three skills) where their diploma doesn't exempt them, or sitting the institutional French exam after admission with a mandatory French course on failure; no separate English requirement applies. The program admits in both the fall and winter terms.
Application Details
Start Date:September and January
Application Deadline:UQAR divides its academic year into fall, winter and summer trimesters; most programmes admit for fall and several also for winter or summer, and for non-contingented programmes an application can be filed at any time up to the start of term, making admission effectively rolling, while contingented (quota) programmes each carry their own fixed deadline published on that programme's own page rather than centrally. UQAR applies this same timeline to Canadian and international applicants and does not publish a separate blanket international closing date; international candidates must still secure a Certificat d'acceptation du Quebec and a study permit before arriving, and must upload supporting documents within six weeks of starting an application or the file is closed, so early application is strongly recommended. Admission is therefore rolling except where a specific programme is contingented. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
