Overview
This AEC teaches the techniques of sound capture, recording, manipulation, and reproduction for live performance and studio work. It targets students seeking training in recording and sound reinforcement, as well as professional musicians who want to self-produce their own material. Training uses audio-digital technologies including Nuendo and Pro Tools plus a range of analog and digital mixing consoles, with about 65% of hours devoted to practical instruction; students record a full production with professional musicians as a capstone project and practice live-sound mixing for audiences and performers. The programme runs 9 months over 2 sessions (900 hours), is delivered on campus, and enrols 13 students per cohort, with intakes in fall and winter. CNDF reports a 67% employment rate for recent graduates of the programme.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Applicants must have training deemed sufficient by the college, plus one of: an interruption of full-time studies (or full-time post-secondary study) for at least two consecutive sessions or a school year, an agreement between the college and an employer or a government programme, or a Diplome d'etudes professionnelles (DEP). Candidates must also pass a three-part admission test: a hearing test, a theory test, and a motivational interview.
