The Master of Human-Computer Interaction (MHCI) at Carleton University is an interdisciplinary program examining the design, evaluation, and implementation of interactive computing systems and the phenomena surrounding their use. Students admitted from backgrounds spanning the humanities, social sciences, cognitive science, design, engineering, and computer science complete three core courses, a choice of research methods courses, and an elective drawn from a wide range of graduate offerings. The program culminates in a major research project leading to a graduate thesis, supervised by faculty working in areas such as game design, accessibility, digital culture and media, human-centred privacy and cyber-security, and virtual and augmented reality. A collaborative Specialization in Accessibility is available. The two-year, full-time program is delivered in person with a Fall intake. Graduates pursue careers in industry and government, including roles at major technology companies, and high-achieving students may qualify to continue into doctoral study.
