The Professional Master of Industrial Relations (PMIR) is a part-time graduate program for working professionals in human resources and labour relations, leading to the same degree as the full-time Master of Industrial Relations. The program can be completed in 24 months and requires 30 credits across the Fall/Winter and Spring/Summer terms. Fall/Winter coursework is delivered in a hybrid format, combining two in-person long weekends at the Kingston campus (one in September, one in March) with monthly remote sessions held on Saturdays. Spring/Summer coursework consists of two non-concurrent long weekends held on campus in May and June, supplemented by asynchronous work. Core and elective courses cover labour relations and human resources practice, employment law, collective bargaining, organizational behaviour, and research methods for analyzing workplace issues. Graduates gain skills in leadership, consulting, facilitation, coaching, team building, and communication, and the degree can fast-track completion of the HRPA designation. The program is offered by the School of Policy Studies' Employment Relations Studies unit at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario.
