Overview
Technologie de l'architecture is a three-year technical DEC that trains technologists who contribute to architecture projects by applying technical construction expertise, working in architecture and technologist firms, engineering firms, construction companies and government bodies. The curriculum is organized around four axes: conception, meaning participating in the technical design of large-scale wood, steel or concrete projects and independently designing small buildings for renovation, extension or new construction, particularly in urban settings; presentation, covering 2D and 3D graphic representation and communication techniques suited to each stage of a project; production, covering technical evaluation, solution development, and coordinating full sets of construction drawings such as plans, sections, elevations and technical details; and management, covering contract-document coordination, cost estimating, and construction-site coordination with project stakeholders. Students learn industry software including Revit, the Adobe suite, SketchUp and Microsoft Project. Certain universities, including Universite de Montreal, reserve spots in their architecture bachelor's program for graduates through DEC-BAC agreements. Students may also choose an alternance travail-etudes pathway, completing paid work placements of eight to thirteen weeks once admitted. The program suits students who combine structured, detail-oriented thinking with visual creativity and an interest in collaborative, studio-based work.

Admission Requirements: This program may receive more applications than it has seats; when that happens, selection is based on school-record quality. Prerequisites: Mathematics - TS or SN from 4th secondary (or Mathematics 436); and Science - ST or ATS from 4th secondary (or Sciences physiques 436).
